    PROUD Experiences is so much more than matchmaking. The show will open in style with an inspiring Opening Forum at The Saatchi Gallery, London. This is a gathering of minds where the very latest thoughts, subjects and issues surrounding LGBTQ+ tourism will be explored by some of the most creative and current individuals.

    Speakers representing key sectors, including: destinations, media, marketing, technology and television, will all participate in a high-level conference style programme. We invite you to be open, to question and to engage.

    Exploring the largest LGBTQ+ destination in the world. What does the future hold for LGBTQ+ tourism in New York? Fred Dixon gives us his visionary take.

    Following opening remarks from some prominent figures, our PROUD industry leaders will be put against the clock. Restricted to 15 minutes, each leader will have 900 seconds to give a unique snapshot of the state of LGBTQ+ tourism.

  • THE ROLE OF NEW TECHNOLOGY IN LGBTQ+ TOURISM AND WHERE THE HORNET APP IS GOING

    Speaker: Christof Wittig, Founder & CEO of Hornet Gay Social Networks

    In 15 minutes... Christof will tackle how LGBTQ+ travellers are using technology, such as social apps. Providing insight into the digital landscape, Christof will explore the Hornet journey and share his views on where technology is going and how the travel industry can embrace these new developments.

  • TINKERING WITH THE HOSPITALITY GENE: HOW TRAINING WITH A FOCUS ON LGBTQ+ TRAVELLERS CAN HELP YOUR CUSTOMER-FACING STRATEGY

    Speaker: Ed Salvato, Author, Handbook of LGBT Tourism and Hospitality: A Guide for Business Practice and Editor-in-Chief & co-founder of ManAboutWorld Magazine.

    In 15 minutes... Ed will tackle: what makes LGTBQ+ customers different; the impediments to providing best-in-class service; how to get customer-facing staff to engage with rather than retreat from interactions with LGBTQ customers; how this training is a truly meaningful point of differentiation from competitors; how it can lead to increased sales and increased levels of customer satisfaction; and how learning about service to LGBTQ customers can lead to better service overall.

  • INSPIRATION: BUILDING AN LGBT TRAVEL BRAND FROM SCRATCH

    Speaker: Darren Burn, Founder of OutOfOffice.com

    In 15 minutes... Darren will tackle marketing to the LGBT consumer - looking at what he has learnt in the two and a half years Out of Office has been operating. During his journey of hard work, sweat and consistent growth, he has tried lots of things, some with great success and others with disappointing results. In particular, Darren will touch on how many travel suppliers still opt for the straight white couple when creating marketing collateral and why it is important going forward to include and engage with the LGBTQ+ customer as well.

    Speaker: Erza Setyadharma, Travel Author and Writer

    In 15 minutes... Erza will explore emerging markets and emerging trends within Asia and the wider world. As an Indonesian gay man, Erza will take an anecdotal look at the Asian market as well as the global view on LGBTQ+ travel. Where do the challenges and opportunities lie? How far has LGBTQ+ history come? What impact does acceptance have on a country? And, how has the likes of Trump and Brexit affected the world for the LGBTQ+ traveller in 2018.

  • YES, THAT IS ME ON MY PASSPORT FOR THE 100TH TIME - INSIGHTS FROM A LEADING TRAVEL WRITER WHO JUST HAPPENS TO BE A CROSS DRESSER

    Speaker: Stefano Ferri, leading Italian Travel Writer

    In 15 minutes... Stefano will present a highly anecdotal and personal account of his journey as a leading travel writer who chooses to dress as a woman, capturing what it is like for the growing transgender and cross dressing traveller. This visionary stance will establish where the industry is now, what better practice would look like and what challenges there are for the industry to realise his dream of true equality in travel and tourism.

    Speaker: Dennis Philipse, Chairman of Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022

    In 15 minutes... Dennis will discuss the biggest LGBTQ+ 9-day event, the Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022. The multi-sport, arts and culture event will be taking place in Asia for the very first time, the region where 2/3 of the world’s population lives. That’s an estimated 123 million LGBTQ+ people! Exploring the history of the Gay Games and the impact it has had on host countries, Dennis will reveal the uniqueness of this event and the opportunities it provides for the LGBTQ+ travel and tourism industry.

  • THE BIG INTERVIEW – WITH THE DAILY TELEGRAPH TRAVEL

    Claire Irvin, Head of Travel Editorial at The Telegraph interviews Ian Daniel, Co-host of award-winning US TV series, Gaycation

    Ian takes a global look at how the LGBTQ+ traveller is discriminated and oppressed through acts of intolerance and violence. Ian shares insightful stories revealing how travelling as an LGBTQ+ individual can indeed be dangerous. Yet, in turn, he delivers the right advice for any LGBTQ+ traveller looking to explore the world.
